DHAKA, Jan. 21 (Xinhua) -- A total of 219 people were killed and 511 others injured in 409 road accidents in Bangladesh capital Dhaka in 2025, a report said on Wednesday.
According to the report by the Road Safety Foundation, a non-government organization, pedestrians were the single most vulnerable group, accounting for nearly half (47.03 percent) of all fatalities.
Motorcycle riders and passengers constituted a significant portion as well, at 43.37 percent, it said, adding that the remaining 9.58 percent comprised drivers and passengers of buses, rickshaws and other vehicles.
The organization identified nine major causes of road crashes, such as vehicle defects, reckless driving and mixing different modes of transport on the same roads. ■
