KABUL, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- Three people have been confirmed dead and two others were injured due to a mud slide that struck a house in the eastern Nuristan province of Afghanistan on Wednesday, provincial government spokesman Faridon Samim said Thursday.
The natural disaster took place in Mandol district following heavy rain and snowfall in the area, the official added, saying all the victims are members of the same family.
In Afghanistan, people are mostly living in vulnerable mud houses, which are prone to natural disasters.
Parts of Afghanistan have been receiving rain and snowfall over the past days. The meteorological department of the country has predicted more snowfall and rain in several provinces of the country, including Kabul, over the next 24 hours. ■
