ISLAMABAD, May 5 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan's petroleum product sales fell in April as high fuel prices and weak demand weighed on consumption, industry data showed on Tuesday.
Oil marketing companies sold 1.36 million tons in April 2026, down 7 percent year-on-year and 6 percent month-on-month. Excluding furnace oil, sales dropped 11 percent year-on-year and 10 percent from March to 1.22 million tons.
The decline was driven by subdued demand amid persistently elevated petroleum prices, said Sana Tawfik, head of research at Arif Habib Limited.
Average petrol prices rose 54 percent year-on-year, while high-speed diesel prices increased 67 percent over the same period, she said.
Cumulative sales of petroleum products for July-April rose 4 percent year-on-year to 13.76 million tons, indicating modest growth in overall fuel consumption. ■
