RIO DE JANEIRO, March 19 (Xinhua) -- Reigning champion Flamengo continued its resurgent form with a 3-0 home win over Remo in Brazil's Serie A on Thursday.
Leo Ortiz opened the scoring at the Maracana Stadium by heading in after Giorgian de Arrascaeta's delivery from a corner.
Flamengo doubled its lead just after halftime when Samuel Lino combined with Luiz Araujo before sending a long-range drive past goalkeeper Marcelo Rangel.
Araujo made it 3-0 shortly after by pouncing on a loose ball and slotting a low shot into the bottom left corner.
Flamengo has now won five consecutive games across all competitions. The club appointed Portuguese Leo Jardim as manager earlier this month after sacking Filipe Luis.
The result leaves the Rio de Janeiro club fourth in the 20-team Serie A standings with 13 points while Remo is last, 10 points further back. ■
